[ It had taken a few days, as Adrien had carefully gone over all current procedures. He'd taken notes, then taken time to consider his recommendations before writing them up and submitting them to the captain. ]
TO: Captain Curre FROM: Dr. Adrien Arbuckal (Crew member) SUBJECT: Proposed procedure enhancements for MedBay and MedBay staff
Captain,
I have gone through a thorough review of all current MedBay procedures and identified the following areas for potential enhancement.
MID Cuff/Cryo/Ingress synchronization - It is my recommendation that the MID Cuff, life support feature be synched with the Ingress (or inter-ship/ship to planet equivalent) in order to trigger immediate transport of injured personnel back to ship board cryo unit when vitals drop bellow 8% viability.
Mobile & Portable Medical Units - If we are going to be deploying planet side on a regular basis I suggest the development of Mobile Medical Facilities. These can range from having regular personal packs for doctors and medical staff to carry on their person, to the organization of a tent or other portal medical base that can be deployed and set up for longer term usage.
Cross training - Training among the staff, particularly if we take on healers who use magic based abilities, was something I found very useful in my previous position. Not only did it allow us to develop a broader base of skills it also allowed us to have a thorough understanding of one another's abilities, so that in times of crisis our resources were maximized to the fullest.
Basic First Aid Training - Pretty much what it says on the tin. Allow the medical staff to offer basic first aid, emergency wound care training to the crew. The more people who know the basics when deployed out in the field, the better if there are injuries and medical staff can't get to the injured immediately.
These are three areas I specifically identified on an initial review. There may be more as we continue to work together and gaps present themselves.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss anything further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Everything you have submitted has been noted accordingly. Any potential synchronization with the Ingress is not possible at this time, though there will be an attempt to coordinate that function if constraints allows. The remainder of your suggestions are a simple accommodation, and it will be relayed to all current members within the next week.
I will be available to speak with you about these in person once you have returned aboard the Moira.
[ As before, the message ends simply with Cúrre. ]
I recently received five units of medi-gel from home. It's an anaesthetic and clotting agent which can stop bleeding and seal injuries against other contaminants, and under a certain frequency of ultrasound, it can heal injuries in a minute or two. I don't know its ingredients or chemical makeup, but could it be reverse engineered and produced for use in the medbay?
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Much of the equipment in the Medbay, specifically the labs, will assist in the breakdown of chemical composition and potentially assist with the process. Feel free to use the facilities as you need.

text, shortly after Manasseh is brought to sickbay
Captain Cúrre, since it appears that our... intruder situation might call for rapid responses and you're in the best position to directly assess the harm it's causing, I'd like to copy my reports to you until Navigator Manasseh is back on duty. If that's acceptable.
We are assessing how to best track it down and neutralize it. May I visit the infirmary and deliver that report in person?
Be that as it may, have you discussed this with Thán? He is acting captain as of this cycle. However, if you cannot contact him, I will hear the report.
What are the basic rules for how you bring people back, because I almost had Miles Vorkosigan drop a load right in the Medbay when I told him his artificial bones were gone, and I'd rather not have to deal with that shtako again.
Especially since the likelihood of more people dying seems pretty high.
Due to its delicate nature, there are no "basic" rules. It is unpredictable, and the condition of one's body will not always reflect that of their current (or former) self. If Crewman Vorkosigan has specific queries, he is more than welcome to direct them to me—not through you.
If you are asking for procedures, I can provide documentation for such protocols. Unfortunately, all we can do is tend to them after.
[She has barely - if ever - spoken to Cúrre, so there's a level of formality to the mail that's she not really used with anybody on this ship before.]
Dear Captain Cúrre,
I'd like to make a request of you and the medbay staff. I'm not actually sure if it's possible, though, so if we could meet in person to talk, I'd really appreciate it.
Not many have been moved in and out of cryo thus far. If it's a malfunction of the units, it should be noted and looked into immediately. [ Meaning: she has no idea. ]
Hello. It's me again. I know you're filled with overwhelming enthusiasm at hearing my voice again.
[All very flat. Since she usually brings problems.]
Banner encountered a problem similar to Peridot with the cryo unit. His appearance changed, too.
PS. I'm going to start keeping replacements for prosthetics on hand. I'd been focusing on repairs before, but at this rate I want to be able to replace things immediately.
I appreciate the work you do. [ And that is not flat. Cúrre doesn't smile very often, but if she did, she might have been smiling with that compliment. ] Do whatever it is you need. I will discuss this with the other captains for their opinions on the matter.
[The message in Cúrre’s inbox has two parts: first, a link to this post, and secondly, an audio message.]
How soon will you be able to lower the temperature in the hold?
[He doesn’t even bother to ask if they’ll address the issue -- what’s happening there right now isn’t acceptable which means neither is any possibility of the captains’ refusal.]
I was not aware anyone was denied medical attention. [ Which is obvious considering how annoyed she sounds. ] Due to its proximity to the engines, temperatures cannot be adjusted as easily as you request. If it is an issue, and it appears to be, we will consider a temporary move of those within confinement until the situation is resolved.
I would like to inform you, the latest mail drop has given one of my children a pie containing poison. Unknowingly he gave several pieces of this pie to friends and his sibling. Asriel and Frisk consumed this tainted pie without realizing what was inside of it until it was too late and are now ill because of it.
I am not sure of how or who is in charge of the mail system, but the fact there is a pie with poisonous flowers baked into it is appalling.
If I could have a word with anyone I would appreciate it.
Your letter has been noted. In regards to mail, most items are not inspected for content. However, I will inform the other captains of this problem, and if you need to speak to someone, you know where I can be found. If Crewman Asriel, Crewman Frisk, or others need medical attention, please end them to me or Med Bay immediately.
My apologies for offering suggestions and then, apparently, immediately disappearing. While I can't claim the best manners in general I suspect that was considered universally rude.
[Following Shepard’s response to his post, Alan sends a message to one of the captains. Despite his doubt that anything will come of the conversation, the circumstances mean he's willing to at least take a chance trying to make the captains see reason. And if it doesn't work, at least they'll have Clu on their collective radar.]
Captain Cúrre? I’d like to speak to you about one of the new arrivals on the ship. And the potential danger he poses to the other crewmembers.
Cap... [ She takes a breath. Starts again. ] Cúrre. I'm sorry I can't explain everything to you in person. They'll be here soon to take over and I need to be here to meet them, other... [ She trails off for a moment before starting again. ] I've arranged the logs so that there will be no question of your rights here. I've arranged for the logs to show that you and Than have proper provenance of ownership. They won't be able to send you away.
I've also reassigned Furiosa to protect you. Please, be careful.
Hello, my name is Link. Not long after I arrived here, Captain Manasseh was really nice to me and shared with me a recipe to make ice cream. I heard she's in cryo now. What happened? Is she okay?

My name is Kazuhira Miller. Some time before I came here, I was involved in an attack. I have cataracts, they make me sensitive to light.
I hear there's the possibility your med bay could treat this. I'm coming to you about it.

I have been advised by Shepard to contact you on the subject of obtaining an old crew member's clothing items. I also have some additional questions.
Would it be possible to meet you in person?
